Gluten free valentines cookies

So this weekend's cooking adventures are brunch for the high school hockey team, coffee cake & breakfast burritos (the cake's already up at Mark's where my cats can't get it) and valentine cookies to take to a dinner tomorrow. And I hope to have enough to mail boxes to kids too.

I made the first kind tonight, these Basler Brunsli, Swiss cookies from an old (1994) Gourmet - Even though the mag's got them on their list of all time cookie faves, I had a recollection that I had made them before, and it had not gone well. Somehow, they were pretty perfect this time. And I just realized, gluten free - which also means, as one commenter on the Epicurious web site pointed out, kosher for Passover, too.
