I have always suspected that Martha Stewart leaves something out of her recipes, a crucial ingredient or technique, so that only, she, Martha, can make them come out perfectly.

I was enchanted with these yin yang cookies, and tried to make them tonight - the instructions say to press the handle of a long wooden spoon into your dough logs, "making a comma shape", and then fit the white & chocolate together.

Hmm, well ... they taste good, but they don't match the picture.
