Lea sent the sexy turkey picture yesterday so I guess it's the season; we're not managing Thanksgiving together this year, shucks. Couldn't get the bro to come either, even though I did add fennel to the menu last year, when he was also in absentia. But I guess it's time to go ahead and post this years (fennel-less) menu; I'm going to Seattle the week after and we can have the fennel then, together.
Thanksgiving dinner
- Appetizers:
- Pickly carrots
- chex mix
- Marinated Goat Cheese (I made this as an afterthought for School Woods Birthday, and it was the only cheese to be completely eaten; it was at the front of the table, though)
- chicken liver pate
- Turkey with chestnut bread stuffing (cubed up bread from the freezer - dill rolls, sourdough, wheat & raison rolls, and crumbled cornbread, herbs, celery, onions, chestnuts)
- Cranberry sauce, plain & one with pearl onions, cinnamon stick, lemon peel, currants, ginger
- Mashed potatoes w/ portabella mushrom gravy
- Brulee'd maple sweet potatoes
- Broccoli spears with chipotle chile cheese sauce
- Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, carrots & chestnuts with butter and nutmeg
- Creamed mushrooms with lemon
- Pumpkin mousse
- Spice thins in the shape of turkeys
- Little cheesecake bites (there's a cheesecake baked in a tart pan in the freezer, so not so tall as a regular springform-pan one) with cranberry jam on top
- Little pumpkin tarts - maybe
